Randomize your sample layers without a single broken path.

What it does

Temper Vortex assigns randomized audio files to child tracks at the edit cursor position. Point it at your sample library, set your assignment rules, and roll — every track gets a unique, valid file path.

Three assignment modes give you full control:

  • FREE — each track picks independently from the full pool. Maximum variation.
  • UNIQ — each track gets a unique file. No duplicates in a single pass.
  • LOCK — track keeps its current file. Use when you've found the right sample and don't want it replaced on the next roll.

Temper Vortex works with your existing REAPER session. It writes to tracks, registers an undo point, and returns focus to REAPER so Ctrl+Z works without an extra click.

  • FREE, UNIQ, and LOCK assignment modes
  • Preset save and restore
  • Session-safe undo
  • Color track output
  • Inline result counts per track
